A repository of the ridiculous and the remarkable, the internet has changed the way we think. With September 10 being Swap Ideas tapped into this all-access age with five wired professionals in India to discuss how they exchange ideas in the digital age.
The internet is an amazing place. Not only did it give birth to the idea of eating Cheetos with chopsticks, it also raised awareness and mil-lions of dollars with viral hits such as the Ice Bucket Challenge. Last Christmas, every bibliophile on Facebook signed up (or contemplated signing up) for the 36-books challenge—another internet idea that swept the world. A gateway for open knowledge, the internet today is also our primary source of inspiration, hitting us with ideas every minute we spend on our smartphones, thumbing through websites and scrolling through personalised feeds. These feeds stimulate debates, ignite thoughts, and change the way we look at, and think about, the world.
With September 10 being celebrated across America as Swap Ideas Day, Vogue decided to take this cerebral trade-off to India at Godrej India Culture Lab in Mumbai. In the company
The Label Life founder Preeta Sukhtankar, chef Thomas Zacharias of The Bombay Canteen, Varun Patra, co-founder of Homegrown, product designer Lekha Washington, and Parmesh Shahani, head of Godrej India Culture Lab—we set out to discuss how we exchange ideas in the digital age.
Varun, at Homegrown, you crowd source stories by posting ideas online. How has the internet changed the way you consume and exchange ideas today?
