Hernandez Refuses To Get Pushed Around
The Giant Insider|December 1, 2019
The Giants knew what they were getting when they selected UTEP guard Will Hernandez in the second round of last year’s NFL Draft — a relentless, hard-nosed player who was going to restore toughness to the team’s faltering offensive line.

Hernandez Refuses To Get Pushed Around

From day one, Hernandez has not backed down from anyone, friend or foe, especially foe. During Monday night’s 37-18 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Hernandez was in the face of just about every Dallas defender after he saw his quarterback, Daniel Jones, get walloped by Xavier Woods along the sideline trying to get out of bounds, sending him crashing into a TV crew worker.

Although the hit was legal and no flag was thrown, Hernandez confronted Woods and pushed him, but it was Woods who drew the taunting penalty.

“That’s just something that’s just unacceptable,’ Hernandez said of Woods’ hit. “Never going to let your QB get hit, especially out of bounds like that. Like, that’s just not part of the game, especially when we’re talking about our QB. I don’t care who you are. That’s unacceptable. I mean, that’s just the things we have to take care of. If that happens, we take care of it. But we keep playing ball, (it’s) part of the game.”
