Outlook Magazine's latest issue looks at the catastrophic humanitarian disaster in Gaza in view of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war and also explores the stories of women characters of Ramayana whose tales have largely remained hidden over the centuries.

After 27 years of deliberation, in a special session of Parliament in September, politicians across regions and backgrounds united for the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill. While the arrival of the bill must be celebrated, the question is if this reservation is enough. The upcoming magazine issue of Outlook will be dedicated to women – their rights, representation in politics and their role in the Indian democracy.

In the upcoming magazine issue, Outlook takes a deeper look into the ‘One Nation, One Election’ idea and analyses the constitutional and legal complications around it and whether the move is essential for the Indian democracy or merely an eyewash.

India reported the highest suicide rate in its history in 2021, with 12 suicides for every 1 lakh people. But people who choose to die by suicide are considered cowards and criminals. But we don’t pause to reflect that those whom we call perpetrators are, in fact, victims. They need our empathy not judgments, helping hands not cruel whips. If the right to live with dignity is essential, then so should be the right to die. This, too, is freedom.

Why can’t we give transgender people the dignity of visibility in 
cinema and other spaces? Does Taali perpetuate the stereotype 
that trans women are just men in drag? Or is acting free from 
the responsibility of representation of the third gender?

In the upcoming edition, Outlook looks at the issue of Islamophobia, how the Hindu-Muslim divide has been widened by the domination of the Hindutva far-right, and tackles questions about how the politics of polarisation continues to deeply influence Indian society.

More than 75 years after India gained Independence, has the Dalit community got freedom? This issue is for all of us. To act and to agitate. To stand together and demand answers and keep asking questions. This issue is for the sake of freedom for everyone. In the hope that we annihilate caste, we invoke memory to guide us through this.
