विकास भारत का मुख्य तत्व रहा है। भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था पुराने समय से अपने सिद्धांत लेकर आगे बढ़ी है। यह नई बात नही है कि भारत के विदेशों से व्यापार और सम्बन्ध बेहतर रहे है लेकिन बावजूद इसके भारत अपनी विश्व में गरीमा बनाए हुए है। पिछले करीब एक साल से भारत के विदेशों में सम्बन्ध और अर्थव्यवस्था के सिद्धांतों में बदलाव आया है। बदलाव को कई लोग पचा नही पा रहे हैं तो कुछ लोग ज्यादा ही आशावादी हो गए है। जो पचा नही पा रहे वे मुखर हो रहे हैं और जो आशावादी है वे संयम नही रख पा रहे है। ऐसे में सहिष्णुता और गौमांस जैसे मुद्दे देशभर में छाए हुए है। लेकिन यहाँ बड़ा सवाल यह है कि आखिर यह बदलाव है क्या ? दरअसल यह बदलाव है कि भारत पूरे विश्व में संबंध बनाने की पहल कर रहा है। अभी तक दुनिया भारत में आकर उसकी खुबिया जानना चाहती थी और भारत को समझती थी लेकिन अब भारत दुनिया में जाकर अपनी खुबिया बता रहा है और भारत को समझ रहा है। इसका सबसे बड़ा फायदा यह मिल रहा है कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी को विश्व के कई देशों में बेहतर सम्मान मिलने के साथ भारत से रिश्ते सुधारने का मौका मिला है। विश्व में लोग जानने लगे है कि भारत क्या है ? और कई देश भारत के साथ व्यापार जैसे संबंध बनाने की सोचने भी लगे है। प्रधानमंत्री मोदी का दुनियाभर में दौरा एक नयापन है और यह ठीक भी है कि आशावादी इस बदलाव को लेकर काफी उत्सहित है। लेकिन इस बदलाव को पचाया क्यो नही जा रहा है। इसके पीछे विश्लेषक तर्क देते है कि भारत की कोई स्थाई निती नही है। बीते साठ सालो में भारत गुट निर्पेक्ष रहा है यानी साम्यवादी रहा है और बाजार व्यवस्था से अलग हटकर किसी भी समूह में शामिल नही होकर पंचशील का सिद्धांत पर चलता रहा। लेकिन मोदी की विदेश यात्राओं को शुरूआत से ही आलोचक मानते हैं कि विदेश नीति की कोई ठोस नीति नही रही। अमेरीका जैसे देश जो पूंजीवाद और बाजारवाद को बढ़ावा देते हैं उनकी रफत्तार पकड़ना बुरी बात रही है, लेकिन उससे पहले जरूरी है कि भारत में अमेरीका जैसे श्रम और उपभोक्ता कानून को सख्ती से लागू किया जाए। वही अमेरीका के साथ संबंध के साथ ही भारत रूस और चीन जैसे देशों से भी मैत्री के लिए आगे आया है।
