A genuine legend of the game, Paul Gascoigne left Everton years before Everton switched to USM Finch Farm and he was at the training ground recently for his first ever visit – and didn’t it go down well! It was very much a case of role reversal as the current first-team squad waited around to get selfies with the former England international, whose sparkling performances and tears illuminated the 1990 World Cup. Gazza spent time with boss Sam Allardyce, the staff and the lads and everyone was delighted to see him looking well.

Another friendly visitor was Kevin Kilbane, who was in town to interview former teammate Wayne Rooney for BBC Football Focus. We listened in and bring you the whole chat, much of which never made the screen.

In a feature-filled edition we also spoke to first-teamers Oumar Niasse, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Idrissa Gana Gueye, Blues legend and coach Duncan Ferguson talks Cenk Tosun, Steven Pienaar reveals his gratitude to the Club following his retirement, Trevor Steven and Leon Osman give their take on Theo Walcott while our last FA Cup-winning captain, Dave Watson, reviews his career at Goodison.

Welcome to the February issue of your Everton magazine....

We say hello to friends old and new this month.

Theo Walcott made an instant impression on Evertonians when he scored two excellent goals to secure three points against Leicester City at Goodison Park and the England international confirms that he’s here to win things.

We take an extensive look back at his career so far with Southampton, Arsenal and the national team, and speak to those who know him best.

Eliaquim Mangala was a late addition to the Everton squad, rushing down the M62 on deadline day to complete a loan deal from Manchester City and he, too, is determined to make an impact while he’s at Goodison Park. The defender opens up as to what drives him on each day.

But, arguably, the highlight of the past month has been the return of Seamus Coleman. The hugely popular Irishman ended a 10-month injury absence with a typically stirring performance in his first game back and he speaks from the heart about the emotional welcome he got from his adoring supporters.

Adrian Heath called into USM Finch Farm recently! Inchy was taking advantage of the MLS off-season to catch up with some old pals… and he found Snods and Diamond in the canteen – some things never change!

There’s no better way to start the calendar year than with a new signing adorning the front cover of Everton magazine.

Cenk Tosun jetted in from Turkey and promptly outlined his reasons for coming to Everton, and his determination to make a tangible contribution as quickly as possible in what remains of this season.

From a January signing to a summer arrival, we catch up with Michael Keane on his time at Everton so far. The England international defender talks about his progress at Goodison, working with Sam Allardyce, and why he knows he will become a better player with the Blues.

Twenty four years ago, it’s fair to say things didn’t go according to plan for Mike Walker as Everton boss. He was relieved of his duties just six months after the Blues’ dramatic escape from relegation on the final day of the 1993/94 season. But when the Toffees played their final Europa League group match in Cyprus – where Walker now resides – we caught up to get his side of the story. He was charming company and admits that maybe Everton was the ‘right club but at the wrong time’.

Elsewhere this month we hear from Ramiro Funes Mori, who speaks about the frustration of being absent for so long and reveals that the World Cup in the summer is an extra motivation for him as he works his way back.

This is the final campaign in the half-century broadcasting career of John Motson and he’s featured this month giving the Allardyce appointment his seal of approval. 

Former goalscoring legend Malcolm Macdonald tells us how Alan Ball saved his England career, and we welcome Goalkeeping Coach Martyn Margetson and Performance Director Dr Ryland Morgans to the Club.

It’s an action-packed 2018 opener for your Everton magazine…

We welcome the new boss to Everton in this month’s magazine.

Sam Allardyce took charge of the Football Club last month and we feature his first Everton column in this Christmas edition.

We also speak to Sammy Lee and Craig Shakespeare, who are an integral part of the revamped coaching staff.

Evertonians like nothing better than to see one of their own come through the ranks to play for the first team. When I was a kid I recall the likes of Ronny Goodlass, George Telfer, Mark Higgins and many more besides making the transition from the A and B teams through to the reserves and then the first team. 

So we all shared the pride of SEVEN young boys playing some part in the UEFA Europa League victory in Cyprus earlier this month – and feature all of them in this edition.

In this month’s magazine we hear from Morgan Feeney, who tells us about the logistics of juggling his Season Ticket in the Howard Kendall Gwladys Street End with the requirements of being a professional footballer!

We also sit down with Roger Kenyon, who tells us all about the centre-forwards he relished opposing and some of the superstars he marked during his time in the North American Soccer League.

In a month when World Cup dreams were either fuelled or shattered, we’ve got three splendid features in this edition with Evertonians who have triumphed on the global stage.

Ray Wilson is still the only ever Everton player to have played in a team that has won a World Cup final and we were very kindly granted access to the family home in Yorkshire to spend time with him. Sadly, Ray is in the unrelenting and unforgiving grip of Alzheimer’s disease but we were delighted to find him happy, content and comfortable. And he still loves to watch Everton on television! 

Our cover star for November is also a World Cup winner. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the only goal in the Under-20 final and has carried the confidence from being on top of the world in the summer into this Premier League season. 

Just starting out on what he hopes will be a long and fruitful football journey of his own is Lewis Gibson, who only turned 17 years old in the summer. He’s been on World Cup duty with England Under-17s and he tells us all about how they came home as champions, beating Brazil and Spain along the way. 

Former Everton reserve defender, George Pilkington, and ex-England right-back Viv Anderson are also contributors, while there is David Unsworth, Yannick Bolasie, Aaron Lennon, Tom Davies, Beni Baningime – and much more!

Phil Jagielka reflects on 10 years as an Everton player, a proud feat made all the more special that he’s got to do it alongside close friend, Leighton Baines.

From the moment they arrived at Goodison Park in the summer of 2007, the defenders have put in loyal service for the Club they dearly love. 

We sat down with the Blues’ skipper and vice-captain to look back on their Everton careers to date, taking in their favourite games, best goals across the decade – and what it means to them to pull on the shirt every week.

Joe Royle and Daniel Amokachi’s time together at the Club may have been a lot shorter – less than two years, in fact – but it proved a thrilling ride as the boss and striker combined to enjoy a successful battle against relegation, FA Cup success and European football.

Amo made a welcome return recently and popped into his former manager’s office at USM Finch Farm to give a warm and lively chat with Everton magazine packed with anecdotes.

Cuco Martina is in the early stages of his Blues career but explains why a series of setbacks when he first became a professional footballer helped make his summer move all the more sweeter.

What a way to mark your full debut.

Twenty seconds into the second half of a European away tie and you spot the home goalkeeper a couple of yards off his line. The fact you are some 50-plus yards from goal isn’t a deterrent and you let fly with ferocious power and unerring accuracy to propel the ball from near the halfway line into the back of the net!

It’s the goal that seals Everton’s passage through to the UEFA Europa League group stage and it announces Gylfi Sigurdsson as an instant Blues hero. The Icelandic international became the club’s all-time record signing during the summer transfer window and, as you will read this month, his journey to Everton from the small streets of Reykjavik has been a long and winding road.

Nikola Vlasic joins him on the pages of your September Everton magazine and his own route to the Premier League is every bit as absorbing – the catalyst for which has been an astonishing athletic gene that runs through the family, and a carefully planned career path crafted by his father.

Whenever somebody says: ‘Remember Gareth Farrelly’s goal?’ no self-respecting Evertonian of a certain age ever replies, ‘Which one?’ The quietly-spoken Irishman, who etched his name forever in Goodison history in May 1998, is back at Everton Football Club in a whole new capacity and this month he explains what it’s all about.

It’s been a busy summer of incomings at Everton - so much so, we simply couldn’t fit all our signings into one magazine!

This month we learn about Jordan Pickford’s humble beginnings and how battling it out between the sticks against seasoned veterans in non-league, while most lads his age still hadn’t finished college, helped shape his future, which saw him become the most-expensive British goalkeeper of all time in June when he joined the Blues.

The inspiring stories don’t end there, as we learn about how Sandro Ramirez left his family home on the laid-back island of Gran Canaria, aged 14, to join Barcelona’s world-famous La Masia academy and chase his dream of becoming a professional footballer.

Cuco Martina completes a hat-trick of first-team feature interviews. The Curacao international is not the first player to point towards Ronald Koeman as one of the reasons to join the Club - but the full-back’s relationship is particularly special after their time together at Southampton.

There is much more, too.

Kevin Campbell fell in love with the Blues from the moment he arrived at the back end of 1998/99. And the fact that he scored sufficient goals to keep us afloat on the good ship Premier League meant that the feeling was mutual. It still is. It’s always a great pleasure to catch up with our former striker and he is just as excited about our immediate future as the supporters.

We’ve also really gone behind the scenes for you this month. Our photographers were granted exclusive access to all our pre-season activity, the Europa League visit to Slovakia and a media day at USM Finch Farm.

In all my years of editing the official Club magazine, I have never known the page plan to change as much as this one has!

Each time we allocated space for a new signing… we signed another one!

It’s been a brilliant summer so far and it’s as exciting a pre-season as I can remember.

However, there was only one winner in the front cover stakes.

I conducted Wayne Rooney’s first ever interview for the Club magazine back in 2002 when the publication was still called the Evertonian and the venue for the sit-down conversation was a Portakabin at Bellefield!

So much has happened since then, for the Club, the player and the magazine… and it’s brilliant that all three of us are re-united in this month’s issue.

Michael Keane and Davy Klaassen also make their magazine debuts this month – and look out for the August issue that will carry in-depth interviews with Jordan Pickford, Sandro and anyone else who may board the good ship Everton!

Tim Howard features this month, too. Tim’s an ocean away from Goodison Park these days but he still keeps in touch with events at the Club, and he confirms to us that we have secured the services of one of England’s brightest goalkeepers.

And that's not all! Look out for features with Leon Osman, Everton Ladies' new Dutch signings and Under-23s duo Anton Donkor and Nathangelo Markelo.

The best is still to come!

That’s the message from Idrissa Gana Gueye ahead of the new season – and given that he gave Romelu Lukaku a run for his money in the Player of the Year race, that will be music to the ears of the adoring Evertonians, many of whom knew very little about the Senegalese international this time 12 months ago.

The feeling of affection is certainly mutual as Idrissa confirms just how much he enjoyed his first campaign at Goodison, and how pleased he is that the fans have taken to him.
Idrissa sets the tone for a magazine with a real international flavour. We follow our victorious England Under-20 boys in the World Cup in South Korea, we bring you exclusive imagery from our first visit to Tanzania to see our new main partners, SportPesa, and we catch up with our Nigerian 1995 FA Cup semi-final hero, Daniel Amokachi.

We've also got special features on Tom Davies, Seamus Coleman and Academy prospect Beni Baningime, plus much more.

And the Blues' 2017/18 Premier League fixture list is included for you! We actually delayed printing this month to cover one of the most eagerly awaited dates in the footy calendar… so get planning!

We thought we’d try something different this year with regards to the End of Season Awards.

So we secured the iconic Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, closed the road outside, fitted a blue carpet and invited supporters to mingle with the players.

And it worked!

A great night was had by all, with Tom Davies and Romelu Lukaku scooping no less than five awards between them. Look out for a report, reaction and pictures from a terrific nIght in this month’s magazine.

Also recognised were our magnificent Under-23s, who are the inaugural Premier League 2 champions. A superb season was duly crowned by the presentation of the trophy in front of 18,000 fans at Goodison Park.

Elsewhere in this month's issue, we catch up with Dave Watson, we hear from Sky’s Soccer Saturday presenter Jeff Stelling, and our Academy striker coach Franny Jeffers.

Grime music?
 
I have to admit, I had to google that before we put together an exclusive interview with Yannick Bolasie! Our winger, who is still working on his rehab from injury, is a keen exponent of grime music and not only enjoys listening to it, but can also have a go himself.

In fact, one of the biggest ‘grime clashes’ of the year was Yannick Bolasie v Bradley Wright-Phillips – you’ll need to read the article to fully understand! 

A bit more straightforward (but not by much!) was the Around the Table session we did with Graeme Sharp and Ian Snodin as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of our last Championship success. We did well to keep them under control long enough to film the chat as well – which you’ll see in the none too distant future on The Everton Show!

Another significant anniversary in 2017 is that it’s 10 years since the untimely passing of Alan Ball and we pay tribute to the Blues legend.

Alessandro Pistone hasn’t been back to Goodison since leaving Everton but we caught up with the Italian for our Former Player feature this month. Sandro is doing a bit of coaching and he owns a restaurant in Italy. I wonder if he plays grime music during courses?

Other highlights include Tom Davies discussing his new contract and a look into the success of the Blues' Academy, some tales from nearly 40 years at the Club from Dr Ian Irving, ahead of his retirement at the end of the season,  U23s striker Bassala Sambou on his first season with the Blues and one-time Premier League striker Jason Roberts looks back on his career which included a spell alongside Leighton Baines at Wigan Athletic.

Welcome to your March issue of Everton…

What a month of contrasting emotions it has been for all Evertonians.

Everybody, of course, was deeply saddened by the loss of the great Alex Young. The Golden Vision glided over the often grassless pitches of the 1960s and left an indelible mark on Everton Football Club that the passage of time will never erase. We pay tribute to him this month.

We also acknowledge the achievement of Tony Bellew. The lifelong Blue delivered the first part of what we all hoped would be a ‘dream weekend double’ with his fantastic 11th-round victory over David Haye but, although the team subsequently lost at Tottenham Hotspur, we did have the consolation of Romelu Lukaku breaking our Premier League goalscoring record.
One of the first people to congratulate The Bomber when he popped into USM Finch Farm was Ronald Koeman and the boss is the subject of our in-depth interview. And a very revealing and insightful piece it is, too.

Add Romelu Lukaku, Ross Barkley, Mason Holgate, Leighton Baines, Olivier Dacourt, the 1977 League Cup run and Spanish pundit Guillem Balague into the mix and you’ve got another terrific issue of the official Club magazine.

What a great time to be an Evertonian!

Goals galore, young players coming through and new signings hitting the ground running.

Morgan Schneiderlin already looks like he’s been at Everton for years, a ‘Rolls Royce’ of a player as someone in the Press Box said after the amazing nine-goal thriller against Bournemouth.

He’s our cover star and inside this month’s magazine he tells us why he chose Everton and what he thinks he and the team can achieve together.

Kevin Kilbane called into USM Finch Farm recently to speak to Seamus Coleman and we listened in to bring you an excellent feature from the two Irish legends!

Adrian Heath is still in the USA and this coming MLS season he has a real job on his hands – guiding a brand new team, Minnesota United, through their inaugural campaign. But Inchy being Inchy – it’s something he’s really looking forward to and he admits that the Howard Kendall influence still guides him every day.

There is currently no more determined a man down at USM Finch Farm than Mo Besic. He’s been in every day since damaging his knee before the start of the season but he assures us that although he wants to be back as soon as possible, he’s still doing exactly as he’s told by the medical team.

All this plus Ronald Koeman and Leighton Baines' usual contributions, some fascinating insight from Head of Medical Services Matt Connery, new U23 loan signing Anton Donkor and defender Tyias Browning on his return from injury.

I didn’t think we’d get it done this month. I really thought we’d have to abandon the plan and re-think the entire piece.

I am referring to the Around The Table feature with three of our brightest young stars. Tom Davies, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Mason Holgate are very close pals but when we sat them down for the group interview they couldn’t resist the opportunity to wind each other up and, consequently, as we were filming it for The Everton Show, we needed half a dozen attempts to get it up and running!

We got there in the end though and it was good to see three young Premier League footballers interacting so comfortably with each other. There will certainly be more to come from all three of them – both on the field of play and between the pages of the Club magazine.

Hopefully, they’ll emulate the longevity that Roger Kenyon enjoyed. Roger was a mainstay of the team in the 1970s and was a guest at the Everton Former Players' Foundation Christmas Dinner. He was terrific company and enjoyed reminiscing about his time at Goodison Park. The opening quote on the introduction page is a cracker!
Ademola Lookman is our cover star this month and he’s a thoroughly likeable young man who is clearly looking forward to making his mark at Everton. Hopefully his interview is the first of many!

Look out too for interviews and features with the likes of Joel Robles, Leighton Baines, Ramiro Funes Mori and Liam Walsh.

A belated Happy New Year and enjoy the first Everton magazine of 2017…

The Everton DNA runs right through the football club and so it’s appropriate that this month’s magazine is the same.

Alex Young and Duncan Ferguson are legends, Leighton Baines is the perfect ambassador, Tom Davies is a lifelong Blue who is the future of our Club and the Academy is in the safest of hands with coaches who have been here as players.

Paul Tait, John Doolan and Phil Jevons all had aspirations of becoming first-team regulars when they joined Everton as impressionable teenagers. It never happened but all three of them tell us in our Around The Table feature this month how dedication, strength of character and a belief in their own ability not only carried them through long and successful playing careers, but also brought them back to their first love.

The Golden Vision and Big Dunc scored 159 goals between them for Everton but the bare statistics fall some way short of summing up the contribution made by the two Scotsmen. Alex was back at his beloved Goodison Park recently and we accompanied him a couple of days before we sat down with Duncan at Finch Farm to discuss his current role at the Club.

Even the only ‘outsider’ this month, former Derby County and Manchester City striker Paulo Wanchope, speaks well of us – and that’s despite being on the receiving end of a Duncan Ferguson forearm smash during his playing days!

There’s a ‘nice-guy’ theme running through this month’s Everton magazine…

Whenever a football club signs a new player there is usually a natural, if slight, element of doubt. Will he fit in off the pitch as well as on it? With Ashley Williams, there was never a question. We knew he’d slot seamlessly into the Everton defence and, after speaking to our counterparts at Swansea City, we were totally confident that he would be the ideal ambassador away from the field of play. Ashley takes his community and fan engagement duties seriously and, as he tells us this month, he already feels a part of the Everton fabric.

And nice guys don’t come any nicer than David Unsworth. The man affectionately known as ‘Rhino’ has done just about everything at Everton and he still loves every minute of every day he spends at Finch Farm and Goodison.  An off day? Not a chance! Unsy knows what he wants to do and where he wants to be.

Our Around the Table feature this month is with the three Dutchmen who followed Ronald Koeman to Everton. And guess what? They’re all nice guys!

Add Leighton Baines, Kevin Mirallas, Maarten Stekelenburg, Alex Young and even the Pope into this jam-packed issue and you can see that the theme really is consistent.

There are so many facets of Everton FC that make us all so very proud to be Blue. Our magnificent history, the work we do in the local community, the way we embrace our global fanbase and, of course, the players who wear the royal blue jersey with as much pride as we would do… This month’s Everton magazine captures all that.

The meeting between Tommy Wright and Joe Royle at Goodison Park was just a pleasure to be a part of. Two genuine Club legends with a friendship going back more than 50 years got together in the home dressing room and thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing about the good old days.

Tommy doesn’t get to Goodison much these days so it was brilliant to see him, and not a more humble man could you ever wish to meet. If I’d won the league and FA Cup with Everton and played for England against Brazil in the World Cup, everyone would know about it! He was charming company, as was Joe Royle – but isn’t he always.

Phil Jagielka, Seamus Coleman and Gerard Deulofeu were more than happy to stay behind at Goodison Park after the official team-photo shoot to join staff, volunteers and participants from the various Everton in the Community initiatives. As the skipper confirms this month, they are all in awe of the work that goes on to help people across the region and beyond.

And we also feature a beautiful, if rather unlikely, friendship between an Everton in the Community participant and the irrepressible John Bailey!

Of course, there's also a whole host of features and exclusives from the likes of cover star Idrissa Gana Gueye, Romelu Lukaku and Yannick Bolasie meeting Thierry Henry, Ronald Koeman and  Leighton Baines. All that plus some fascinating insight from Fran Alonso, part of the manager's backroom staff.

It’s always a good sign that things are going well when you have to modify articles that have already been written and tweak deadlines that have already been agreed.

Big Rom spoke to Everton magazine in early September 2016, and spoke from the heart by the way, but, of course, we had to change the copy after his starring role in Sky Sports' Monday night offering at Sunderland.

Incidentally, our hat-trick hero can be a somewhat shy boy off the field and was reluctant to be filmed with the match-ball when I interviewed him for evertonTV after the game. As you may have seen, he eventually did so but I had to beat him at ‘paper-scissors-stone’ in the dressing room to get my own way!

We’ve also had to invite Enner Valencia to supply a few fresh quotes after watching his new colleagues dismantle Sunderland at the Stadium of Light – and it’s fair to surmise that he’s relishing the prospect of playing alongside Romelu Lukaku.

Our new Around The Table feature was well received in our last issue and I can assure you it’s as much fun to compile as it is to read. This month, three guys from Joe Royle’s 1995 FA Cup dressing room laughed, mocked and bantered their way through a wonderful conversation – look out for the video version on the Everton TV Show.

And what a bonus the Leighton Baines column has turned out to be. Not only is he writing his own stuff, he’s also providing the pictures… and he’s clearly developing (sorry!) a skill for it.

When we sat down at the end of last season to discuss the re-vamp of Everton magazine we stressed the importance of sending copy to the publishers nice and early to offer them the maximum time to set the pages and be as creative as possible.

It’s a system that works well outside of a transfer window!

August's page plan has been tweaked with more frequency than the name-sign on the door of the manager’s office at Elland Road as more new faces breezed into Finch Farm. But we’ve managed to squeeze everything in.
 
New signings Yannick Bolasie, Ashley Williams and Idrissa Gana Gueye are great lads and gave us all the time we needed to do their recruitment justice. They were more than happy to sit and chat ahead of the deadline and they were (reasonably) happy to pose for accompanying images.

It always amazes me that Premier League footballers who don’t bat an eyelid when they step out in front of 40,000 watching spectators can become rather coy when faced with a single cameraman.
But exclusive photography is at the core of the new Everton magazine. We’ve worked hard to create a publication that’s modern, vibrant and exciting, without compromising the values that Evertonians hold dear.

As well as our new signings we’ve got former striker Michael Branch, whose life after football has been anything but straight-forward. It’s a tale of teenage opportunity, subsequent poor decisions, punishment and redemption.

A lot of the content for this month’s magazine was collated during the pre-season trip to Austria.

The new staff and the players flew out of Liverpool on the Monday morning for a six-day tour and some of the downtime was spent in the company of Everton magazine.

There are worse locations than in the shadow of the Austrian Alps to speak to the new manager, his technical staff and some of the players. In fact, the incessant rain over the village of Schruns meant our reporters had more time than usual to gather content because there was no real urgency to explore the beautiful surrounding area!

We certainly utilised every spare moment, getting new kit photo-shoots, behind the scenes footage and I even conducted an interview with 2010 World Cup final goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg on the flight back from St Gallen to John Lennon Airport!

Fifty years have passed since Goodison hosted football immortals such as Pele and Eusebio and in this month’s issue we take a nostalgic look at the five 1966 World Cup games that were staged on our patch. Not that Pele will recall them with much affection!

Good things, so they say, come to those who wait.

It may have taken a little longer than anticipated for confirmation of Ronald Koeman’s appointment as Everton manager to come through but, ultimately, the Blues got their man. Their number one man. 

As a result, you had to wait a week longer than advertised for this magazine. But there was good reason – we were holding off to welcome the incoming boss. We hope you’ll agree that it was worth the delay. 

Indeed, we’ve got more than 20 pages on the Dutchman, his new coaching team and the hopes for the future. We also interview some of the men who know him best, profile a glittering playing career, bring you exclusive behind-the-scenes photographs and, of course, speak to Ronald himself. 

But while this is definitely a Koeman ‘special’, there’s also an in-depth look at some of the budding talents coming through the Club’s Academy, news of plans to give Goodison a summer revamp and a recap on a captivating night of world championship boxing at Goodison Park.

It’s been a big few weeks at Everton Football Club.
 
There was, of course, the joy of a trip to Wembley for an FA Cup semi-final and the disappointment of a result that made the memories of the day bittersweet. 

We then learned before the final game of the campaign that the football club and manager Roberto Martinez had sadly parted company. 

David Unsworth took over the reins for the visit of Norwich City and we get his reaction to the experience of being in the dugout in this month’s magazine. 

That afternoon also saw Goodison Park say an emotional farewell to our cover star, Tim Howard, after 10 years of service, and he’s given us his final interview as a Toffee. 

In addition, there’s a new kit to analyse, a catch up with the hero of our famous FA Cup win of 50 years ago, Mike Trebilcock and, of course, a look ahead to Euro 2016 with some of the key men who will be representing their nations and the Blues. 

And, ahead of his world title fight at Goodison, Creed star and Everton columnist Tony Bellew tells us how preparations have gone ahead of his big night on 29 May.

There’s no Everton to watch until July but we hope this is a good start when it comes to filling the void.

I still can’t believe it’s been 10 years since the untimely and desperately sad passing of Brian Labone. One of the many pleasures of matchdays at Goodison was always the opportunity to chat to Labby. He had time for absolutely everyone. If you were an Evertonian you were part of his family and his death touched every one of us.

So I thought it would be fitting, in this month’s magazine, to reproduce an interview that Labby conducted in 2004. It was published in his Funeral Order of Service in 2006 and I defy anybody not to read his words with his voice in your head. He is still missed on matchdays… and he always will be. He would have been relishing another trip to Wembley for this year’s semi-final, that’s for sure.

Talking of silverware we were granted exclusive all areas access at the recent victorious Dallas Cup tournament… read all about it inside. There's also a whole host of interviews and features with the likes of Ross Barkley, Ramiro Funes Mori, and Tom Cleverley.

Well life is certainly never dull when you're an Evertonian is it?

More away wins, more Goodison frustration, FA Cup progress, red cards, teenage wonder goals and some new investment! And we've got every base covered in your March edition of Everton.
Of course the main topic of discussion amongst Blues recently has been the introduction of Farhad Moshiri to the football club. The Chairman searched extensively and tirelessly to find the right man... and he's duly delivered. The future is certainly bright for the Blues...

And it will be even better if 18-year-old Kieran Dowell continues to score goals from 40 yards! We spoke to the youngster after his 'worldly' against Southampton at Finch Farm for the Under-21s and he reckoned he only took a shot at goal because ‘there was no pass on’...!

We also meet Seamus Coleman and find out what makes him tick – including the special relationship he enjoys with home village Killybegs.

Aaron Lennon may or may not be the fastest runner in the first-team squad – and our in-form winger reveals to us that he mightn’t even be the quickest in his own family!

Welcome to the February edition of your Everton magazine. What have Britain’s Got Talent, the US Super Bowl and Match of the Day got in common? Well, they are all, in some, way, shape or form featured this month! Amanda Holden tells us about her link with Everton in the Community and her passion for our Club, the Under-21s undertake a keepy-up challenge using an American football and Gary Lineker features strongly as we look back on 1985/86 when we narrowly missed out on the Double but our record-breaking striker made himself a huge hit with the faithful. Steven Naismith hasn’t long left Everton but he is still, of course, eligible to fill our Former Player slot in the magazine and so when he came back to Finch Farm recently to finally clear his locker and say his final goodbyes we sat down with him to talk about his time at Goodison and his future at Carrow Road. Our new £13.5m man, Oumar Niasse, is also a star of this month’s issue. No sooner had he breezed into Finch Farm than he was ‘up against the wall’ posing for his first cover shot. We hope it won’t be his last! Jeff Winter recalls one of his more ‘regrettable’ performances as a Premier League referee at Goodison Park and Bryan Oviedo tells us of his ambitions for this season and beyond.
