Well that was an eventful transfer window wasn’t it! Four internationals and a couple for the future… and we kept our prized assets.

The deadline day wasn’t quite as eventful as the year I was at Finch Farm until the small hours in the company of Gareth Barry, James McCarthy and Romelu Lukaku but we still did some great business. We speak to four of the new boys in this month’s Everton magazine and all four are delighted to be here.

It’s easy to overlook the fact that we also secured the future of James McCarthy during this transfer window. The most experienced 24-year-old in the Premier League tells us how glad he is to have everything sorted – while earlier in the issue the gaffer again expresses his displeasure at just how the transfer window works.
Alan Ainscow isn’t the biggest name from our illustrious past but he’s a thoroughly nice man with a lot of time for Everton and he will forever be one of the Magnificent Seven! He enjoyed his time at Goodison Park and reveals more than a hint of regret that things didn’t quite work out as planned for him.

One of the many pleasures of putting together the magazine is enjoying listening to impartial guests talking well about our football club and Adrian Chiles certainly fits into that category. The former presenter of ITV’s Champions League football was on Merseyside supporting a mental health centre along with Everton in the Community. He was a good sport too, mixing with some of the patients and taking part in some of the health and well-being exercises that were on offer. He enjoyed himself and we hope you enjoy the September Everton magazine…
