With the January sales upon us we've got you covered with twenty game reviews, as well as our hands-on first impressions with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One!


Highlights among the amazing games we’ve reviewed this month include: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, XCOM: Enemy Within, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and The Novelist.


We also have previews of Starbound and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, and articles including our Staff Picks for Game of the Year 2013 and ‘Five Ways Gaming Saves You Money and Generally Makes Life Better’.

This is just a snippet of what we have on offer this month, and we already have a great line up ready for next month’s issue as well.

Welcome to issue 174 of The GameOn Magazine! Honestly, it’s a bit tough to celebrate videogames and gaming when there are just so many people being forced out of the industry by layoffs. But, we try to not let their work pass by without recognition, so here is what awaits you in this issue.

For the articles we have addiction, handhelds, and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. In fact, we have quite a bit about Banishers this issue, putting it together was like assembling a special edition issue! We also have an interview with the team behind To Pixelia, a life sim hopefully coming out later this year!

In our previews, Bennet built a News Tower, Alana got quite Cross Blitz, and Alyssa visited Spirit City: Lofi Sessions. Ariel also pulled a Midnight Heist while Dylan fought with Vampire Hunters, to fill things out.

Finally, our reviews are almost exclusively positive, which is a nice change of pace! Alana shot at Persona 3 Reload while Bex puzzled over Sokobond Express, and Dylan took a Pacific Drive. Then Alyssa opened some Boxes: Lost Fragments, Jacob buried Skull and Bones, and Gary told us of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake.

Welcome to issue 173 of The GameOn Magazine! What a year it’s been since our last issue! Wait, what do you mean it’s only been one month…? Well, I suppose that explains why we only have an absolute stack of pages ahead of you, rather than several stacks!

Our articles feature the return of Hidden Gems after a brief hiatus, some tips for a new survival game in Early Access, and building up excitement for one of March’s biggest titles! There are also some more personal tips, and since it’s Mother’s Day this month in the UK we took a look at some of gaming’s mums! There’s also an interview with the developer of Necrowave, an upcoming indie game.

On the preview side we uncover Enshrouded, jet off to Phantom Galaxies, and boil down Alchemist: The Potion Monger. And sure, we take a look at that Palworld that everyone seemed to be going on and on about, before just stopping when Nintendo didn’t immediately sue the developer.

Which leads into our jam-packed review section! Joshua tooled up as The Last Soldier of the Ming Dynasty, while Alana joined the MiceGard, and Gary tried to regain his Ballance. Meanwhile, Bex went to court for Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy, Dylan built a Super Retro BoxBot, and Ariel tried to prove herself Unstoppable! Then Jacob kicked TEKKEN 8, Luke met My Lovey-Dovey Demon, and I helped the Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League!

Welcome to issue 172 of The GameOn Magazine! We hope your year is off to a great start and going from strength-to-strength as 2024’s amazing releases start coming in. And if you’ve seen the cover, perhaps they’ve already begun arriving?

Our articles this month take a look back at some older titles, an upcoming one, and let it never be said that we won’t look back at our own review scores and compare them to others. We also have an interview with one of the team members that worked on Invincible Presents: Atom Eve, which we also reviewed — but I’m getting ahead of myself.

On the preview side it’s a huge month, with Jacob setting Witchfire, Simone doing some Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord, and Alana joining a Fellowship. Sure, most of the titles are available now in Early Access, but Martin got a sneak peek at Gori: Cuddly Carnage and just couldn’t wait to tell you about it!

Finally, our reviews have unicorns, raccoons, dinosaurs, and garbage! Mike got to spend some money in House Flipper 2, Gary went on just a Small Saga, and Ariel put fresh sheets on This Bed We Made. Violet sang a Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story, Dylan was glad he didn’t Nearly Dead - Live and Let Die, and okay, these game titles are long what’s up with that? It makes my quips less snappy, don’t publishers realise that?

Welcome to issue 171 of The GameOn Magazine! Happy New Year! Now that’s out of the way, let’s see what we had left in 2023, because this issue comes out before we could possibly have seen what 2024 has in store for us. Hopefully fewer delays and mass layoffs across the industry!

While we’re a bit lighter than usual on the articles, that doesn’t mean they’re not worth your time. Ariel has a look at Counter-Strike 2’s release, Jacob checks out martial arts, and Dylan laments game announcements. There’s also an article about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, because we got to have a sit down with Stephen Oyoung, the voice actor behind Martin Li AKA Mister Negative!

Our previews this month have toads, zombies, mice, and pool cleaning. Two of the games will be out in the near future, one in the less near future, and one is available now in Steam Early Access. 

Which brings us to our review section, which is a bumper crop to make up for the article shortcomings. There’s the good, the bad, and the in-between, from licensed stuff to sequels, spin-offs, AAA, and indies… Bennett discovered that ivory hunting is wrong in The Elephant Collection, while Violet cleaned the oceans in Loddlenaut, and Alana poured a cup of Pixel Cafe. Then Jacob showed us his GUNHEAD, Gary solved The Talos Principle 2, and Artura told us some Spells & Secrets. Welcome to issue 170 of The GameOn Magazine! I’ve been writing these for 100 issues now barring one or two, and I still never quite know what to write when it’s — wait this is the Christmas issue, I’ll write about that! Merry Christmas to those who celebrate, and if you don’t then I hope you have a happy whichever holiday you do celebrate if any!

In our articles this month, we have a selection of articles based on reviews in this very issue, as well as our regular features. We also plucked some Christmas-themed articles from Father Christmas’ sleigh and stuffed them within these pages!

There’s an interview with the developer of HOT WHEELS UNLEASHED 2 - Turbocharged too, for those racing fanatics who want something more arcadey than our cover feature. There’s a review for the game later, too, so I was glad that they could see us before this issue went to press!

Our previews are mopping up the games that had previously been marked for a “2023” release, as well as some that entered Early Access. There are floating islands, the planet Mars, cats… lots of stuff.

Our reviews this month include Artura experiencing the Bang-On Balls: Chronicles, Dylan battling the Wizard with a Gun, and Mike getting emotional with CRYMACHINA. Then Tina put on a helmet and decided to The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, while Steven raced through EA SPORTS WRC. This next one is actually true: Bennett specifically asked to review Skull Island: Rise of Kong, and that’s funnier than any pun that I could have written.

Welcome to issue 169 of The GameOn Magazine! Nice. We’ve been working hard to bring you the best gaming coverage around, as usual, and with a whopping 20 reviews jammed into these pages I think it shows.

Our articles this month take a look at the shuttering of Volition, wondering what happened to Atlas Fallen, how one game can ruin another, and a bunch of other things. Also, a piece celebrating 25 years of N64 Zelda, and another looking at an overlooked Spider-Man game!

As for previews, we looked at three Early Access titles, as there are a load of them and even more every single month. We also checked out Tevi which is out in a few weeks, and made space for House Flipper 2 which hits the digital shelves in December!

Finally, our reviews this month are heavy on the AAA, but like I said there are 20 of them in total so we’ve got smaller things too! Violet sold the Fae Farm, Artura told some Lies of P, and Mike spent the Eternights at school. Then Jacob shouted Mortal Kombat 1, making Alana shoot her Gunbrella, and Ariel mutter Ad Infinitum. Okay, that last one was a bit thin I’ll admit…

Welcome to issue 168 of The GameOn Magazine! There have been a few AAA releases, and more to come, so I won’t spend too long on this opening paragraph and get right into the good stuff!

In our articles this month you can find the latest parts of both From the Top - God of War and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Diaries (check out previous issues if you missed those!), and some of our usual bits. We also wonder about warnings on store pages, perfect fights, and Ubisoft’s open worlds, amongst other things. We also have an interview with Crytek!

Our previews are all for games that are in Steam Early Access, apart from an upcoming title from Paradox Interactive, which is due out on 12th of October. It’s Star Trek: Infinite, a grand strategy from the developers of 2016’s Master of Orion: Conquer the Stars!

Finally, our reviews weigh heavily in the “good or great” category, with Conor running the Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, Martin going out of his Gord, and Alana swimming the Sea of Stars. Meanwhile, Jacob survived the The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Anna started Moving Out 2, and Dylan polished the Mirrored Souls.

Welcome to issue 167 of The GameOn Magazine!

We’ve had some sad news that we wanted to let our loyal readers know. Our Editor-in-Chief Steve Greenfield passed away suddenly in July 2023. This came as a shock to his family and our entire team, who in some cases had spoken to him a matter of hours earlier. His passion and drive made every issue of GameOn the joy it was to both create and read, and we will continue publishing in his memory.

Our articles this issue include a look at culture, hating and loving a game, and the usual tips, So I Tried, and Game Over. There’s also a look at meaningless interactions, and why there should be more of them in gaming. Then, we have an interview with the developer behind Ruffy and the Riverside!

We’ve got a handful of previews for some titles in Early Access, six of them to be exact! Join the vestry in Priest Simulator, talk a walk down to the Havendock, or do some bird watching in Ravenswatch. Okay, I might have forgotten what that last game was and just wanted to include bird watching.

Finally, our reviews include Violet trying to make Smushi Come Home and Alana jumping in her Armored Lab Force VulVEHICLES. Alyssa visited the Nova Lands, Artura lept on Mr. Run and Jump, and Mike got dirty with Offroad Mechanic Simulator. You’ll have noticed the cover already, so you also know that Bex proves there’s always more with Final Fantasy XVI!

Welcome to issue 166 of The GameOn Magazine! Just to prove that we bring you some of the best content, we’ve cut the review we were going to publish for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. Just… no. It got a 3/10, and that was begrudgingly because it loaded up and didn’t combust the computer.

In our articles this month we celebrate The Last of Us, which just turned 10 years old! We also look at some film adaptations of videogames, Crusader Kings III, and cRPGs. Don’t miss out the first entries of two new ongoing series, too!

We have an interview in this issue — been a while since we’ve had one! We sat down with the team behind Paleo Pines to hear what they had to say.

Speaking of Paleo Pines, our previews this month include it! You can also find the horror survival game Daymare: 1994, the narrative adventure game Forever Skies, the RPG musical Stray Gods, and the action-adventure Lies of P!

Welcome to issue 163 of The GameOn Magazine!
As I write this it’s Not-E3 Week, which means you
already know what was announced, while I’m still
absolutely clueless! I mean specifically about this, not
just in general… But anyway, we at GameOn Towers
played some games, and here’s what we wrote about
them!
Our articles cover Gameloft, zombie games, more
zombie games, and games that might as well be
zombies themselves! Well, more like a
Frankenstienian Monster, but I was going with a
theme, see? There were a couple of fifth
anniversaries recently, so we cover those, and plenty
of tips & tricks for a couple of games reviewed in this
issue!
The previews in store for you have either come out in
Early Access, be coming out at some point, or have a
release date set after we go to print for next issue!
There are six of them and range from puzzles to firstperson
shooters, so don’t skip them!
Finally, our reviews see Bennett setting up a
Homestead Arcana, Alana solving The Last Case of
Benedict Fox, and Artura getting lost at the Call of the
Sea VR. Then Dylan was writing with Dead Ink, and
Mike biked out to the TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge

Welcome to issue 163 of The GameOn Magazine!
This issue was partially produced using The Force —
was it the light side or the dark side? Read on to never
find out the answer! But that cover looks great, right?
On the articles side of things we have phobias, Star
Wars, Sherlock Holmes, and more across the 12
pieces filling the first third of this issue. Jon wants
stronger stories, Violet gives some tips, and I looked
at the difference between the two big Zelda titles on
Switch.
Our previews have a couple of titles that might be out
right now, depending on when you’re reading this
issue, one that’s definitely out thanks to Steam Early
Access, and one that has no release date. Though to
be fair, there’s a couple of weeks between me writing
this and you reading it, so there might be a release
date by now!
Then we have our reviews, which see Dylan building a
Wall World, Violet experiencing Outer Terror, and
Bennet telling the Minecraft Legends. Then we have
Alana moving so fast it left an Afterimage, Artura

Welcome to issue 163 of The GameOn Magazine!
We’re busy putting up bunting for the coronation of
King Charles III here at GameOn Towers, but not too
busy to give you a whole lot of gaming goodness right
in these pages!
Our articles this month see a look at the phobia
Thalassophobia, Kirby’s original game, and Persona 5:
Strikers. We also have Far Cry 5, Mario games, and the
usual So I Tried and Hidden Gems!
Next, the previews are filled with games that have just
entered Early Access, titles due out any day now, and
some more distant. Exoprimal is quite a way away, for
instance, but Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is almost here!
Our writer was flown out especially to check it out
only a few weeks ago!
Finally, our reviews are packed with 8/10s, for some
strange reason. There are higher and lower, but that
surprised me! Dylan was spotted by the Contraband
Police, while Alana investigated the Mato Anomalies,
and Mike oiled up for WWE 2K23. Violet tried to keep
Roxy Racoon 2: Topsy-Turvy, and Bennet cast The Last
Spell, while Artura said Tchia. Of course, you already
saw what was on the cover, so you know what Jase
reviewed already.

Welcome to issue 162 of The GameOn Magazine!
Games have come and games have gone, but Blood
Bowl 3 is for life — or at least until Blood Bowl 4. You
can check out the review later in this issue, but for
now I’ll tell you what to expect in the rest of these
pages!
Our articles see Niall talking about Redfall and
Darktide, and Jase talking about Rockstar. As well as
the usual contenders for your attention like So I Tried
and Hidden Gems, Jon looked back at one of the Zelda
games and waxed poetic about videogames in
general.
After that the previews are packed, with Dredge
which is out in a few days, and no less than three
titles that are coming out in April! Mike also got to
check out the PSVR2 exclusive C-Smash VRS at an
event in London, so you can read about that too!
Then the reviews have more 9/10s than I remember
seeing in a while, but not everything was a winner! Of
course, as the cover and this page shows we have
Deliver Us Mars from Jase and Blood Bowl 3 from
Bennet, but we also have several titles from Alana,
including one DLC. We also have Wo Long: Fallen
Dynasty, but the artwork didn’t really go with this
page or the front cover.

Welcome to issue 161 of The GameOn
Magazine! Any day now the cold snaps will cease
and I’ll have to go back to cooling my PC properly
instead of gaming with the windows open. Don’t
worry about me, I’ve been kept warm with the
game announcements coming hard and fast, and
making me concerned about our page counts in
the coming months!
Our articles this month include accessibility, RNG
and private matches, State of Decay, Warhammer
40,000: Darktide, and Celeste. It’s a real mix of
stuff, as well as a Hidden Gem, a Game Over, and
a So I Tried. Also Pezh was in a punchy mood, find
out why in a few pages time.
As for previews Frank went to Space Haven, Violet
led that Immoral Life, and Alana aimed a camera.
Of course, I’m talking about Project Zero: Mask of
the Lunar Eclipse (AKA Fatal Frame: Mask of the
Lunar Eclipse), which is out about a week after this
issue comes out! We’ll have a full review for you
next issue.
Finally, our reviews have Mike setting Sail Forth
and Alyssa issuing a RE:CALL. Meanwhile Bennet
was Wanted: Dead, Jon span the Graze Counter
GM, and Alana visited the Lone Ruin. Of course,
Nathan drank the SpongeBob SquarePants: The
Cosmic Shake, but I couldn’t fit that into a short
sentence, or actually find any decent images to
use on the inside cover. So we got Hi-Fi RUSH,
reviewed by Mike.

Welcome to issue 160 of The GameOn Magazine!
With most of 2023 still ahead of us, we’re of course
looking forward to the games that were delayed from
last year finally releasing. For this issue, however,
we’re still clearing up a bunch of the backlog from
2022, and a varied collection of reviews it is!
The articles this month look at romance in Dragon
Age II, hope for remasters, and a couple of listicles.
There’s also the usual Hidden Gem, So I Tried, and Is
It Any Good, along with some tips & tricks!
We’ve got four previews in place of any interviews,
showing that these things can be like buses — you
wait for ages and two turn up at once. Pezh has a
bridge to sell you in Monuments Flipper, Artura
comes out of their Space Shells, and Alana has a
double bill of The Last Kids on Earth: Hit the Deck! and
Scholar of the Arcane Arts!
Then our reviews this issue are the aforementioned
tying up of some loose ends. Crunchi sows some
Kainga: Seeds of Civilization, Violet shows us their
Unusual Findings, and Alana runs My Fantastic Ranch.
Meanwhile, Jon gets a Divine Knockout, Dylan gets
High On Life, and Jase says Hello Nieghbor 2!

Welcome to issue 159 of The GameOn Magazine!
Happy New Year! Here’s to a fantastic 2023, if not in
real life than in gaming releases. We’ve had a bunch
of delays so that things could release this year, so
here’s hoping they see the light of day!
As for this month’s articles, we take a look back at
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai and Far Cry 3 for our
anniversaries. Since Marvel’s Midnight Suns has
freshly arisen we took a look at the heroes, and we’ve
got another Hidden Gem.
While we don’t have any previews this issue, we do
have two interviews for you to check out. Spooky had
a chat with the teams behind the upcoming Paper
Animal RPG, and Reka!
Finally, our reviews this month include some massive
AAA titles, as well as some smaller games, but let me
tell you this: you’ll be sick of seeing the number eight
when you’ve finished this issue! Nathan moved things
A Little to the Left, Alana felt some Bravery and Greed,
and Jon became and Aquarist. Then of course, Gary
tried to Return to Monkey Island, Pezh hopped on a
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, and Steven raced
through WRC Generations!

Due to our publishing deadlines, this is our Christmas
issue! So, we hope you’re having a great holiday
period and that you’ll be giving some great gifts to
those you care about.
Not to be bogged down by the holiday spirit, our
articles this month include a look at games that began
life as Half-Life mods, eight things to do in Gotham
Knights, and no fewer than six pieces about games
with big anniversaries! Some of the games are over 20
years old! It’s Colony Wars, in case you couldn’t wait
to find out.
Then we have two interviews, one with a team
member behind Lil Gator Game, and the other with a
team member working on Venba.
In the preview department Spooky flew the Forever
Skies, Nathan visited Coral Island, and Artura played
with PaperKlay. None of them had release dates
when I wrote this, so keep an eye out for them!
Finally, our reviews have some big titles, some
smaller ones, a sequel or two, and even a 10/10! Bex
got lovey-lovey with Kaichu - A Kaĳu Dating Sim, Alana
felt the Terror of Hemasaurus, and Jase reached pole
position in FLASHOUT 3. Meanwhile, Mike was being
the best Football Manager 2023 he could be, and Niall
joined the war effort in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
II.

Welcome to issue 157 of The GameOn Magazine!
Soon after this issue comes out it’ll be time to be
afraid. However, this is also the time of year that our
cousins across the pond (and some of our staff) get in
the mood to be thankful. We all know that’s just an
excuse to eat food with family, so we had Georgina
take a look at 6 More Games That Make You Hungry
When You Play Them!
Other articles this month include looks back at Ghost
Recon: Breakpoint and Hollow Knight, how Cult of the
Lamb works as a mash-up of other titles. There are
some tips and tricks for Disney Dreamlight Valley, a
look at cinematic trailers, and a whole bunch of big
anniversary celebrations!
Next up we have two interviews, telling more details
about the upcoming Rōnin Trail as well as Hop For
The Best.
Our three previews this month are ones you can set
your clocks to like Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate,
one that isn’t quite cardboard with Paper Animal RPG,
and an in-depth investigation into The Case of the
Golden Idol!
Finally, our reviews have Alana looking into BROK the
InvestiGator, Dylan catching Temtem, and me not
letting the Moss: Book II grow. Meanwhile Nathan
opened the SCP: Secret Files, Mike lived that Hokko
Life, and Artura told Foretales out fo school.

Welcome to issue 156 of The GameOn Magazine!
This is the first issue published since the passing away
of Queen Elizabeth II, and the ascension to the throne
of King Charles III, so that makes it pretty notable,
doesn’t it? So it’s a good thing that this issue is packed
full of content.
Our articles this issue include some guides, articles
about accessibility, and multiple anniversary
celebrations. SOCOM: US Navy Seals is how old?
Super Mario Kart is even older? Well those two,
Animal Crossing, and Sleeping Dogs all had pretty big
anniversaries recently, so find out what our writers
decided to consider in light of those.
We also have two interviews, in case you wanted to
find out more about The Lost Weld and Secret
Meadow!
As for previews, we’ve got some Early Access games
like Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game, but
also something that’s going to be out within days of
this very issue! So read it quickly, From Space is
coming out on 29th of September.
Finally, the games reviewed in this issue don’t have a
bad score amongst them! Mike strapped on his skates
for Rollerdrome, Alana was Cursed to Golf, and
Spooky got Lost In Play. Meanwhile, Dylan got into a
Midnight Fight Express while Jon became a Dusk Diver
2, and Mike shined up his Steelrising. And there’s my
favourite game from the month, Saints Row.

Welcome to issue 155 of The GameOn Magazine!
First of all a huge thank you to guest editor Emsey
Walker who stepped in last issue while I was
recovering from COVID. But at least I managed to
finally get around to finishing Judgment, which you
can read about in this very issue!
Speaking of which, it’s far from the only article in this
issue. We have an article celebrating 30 years since
the first Ecco the Dolphin released from Jaxon, Mike
tells us which PlayStation Plus Premium games you
should be playing, and Spooky tells us about a hidden
gem. We’ve also got the usual Sekiro Diaries, So I
Tried, and Is It Any Good? Articles, and more besides!
While we don’t have any previews in this issue, we do
have an interview with digiggle Games where Spooky
talks to them about their upcoming game Aluna Rift.
Finally, our reviews see Alana in a donnybrook with
Capcom Fighting Collection, Pezh puzzled by Jigsaw
Savant, and Artura loading their Frogun. Spooky
spent some Time on Frog Island, Mike tried to put
Sword and Fairy: Together Forever, and Dylan was
just trying to Digimon Survive. There’s a lot of highly
scored games in this issue, and honestly there’s been
more than the average in 2022 already!

Welcome to issue 154 of The GameOn Magazine!
It’s officially Summer now, and even in the usually
grey lands of the GameOn headquarters the sun has
been beating down. Thankfully most of us like to hide
inside anyway, so extra gaming time ahoy, meaning
more content for you to read about.
In the articles section this month, we’ve got our
regular So I Tried features, as well as some helpful
Tips and Tricks for anyone trying V Rising for the first
time. And if you’ve ever wondered whether you can
enjoy Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp without having
to cash out lots of money, then Artura gives us the
low-down.
We’ve got more vampire-goodness in our previews
this issue, with Alana taking a sneak peek at Vampire
Survivors and keeping in with the occult she also
treats us to a look at the very cute Little Witch in the
Woods. Both of these are in Steam Early Access right

So, what do you think about all of the announcements
over the last couple of weeks? Since this issue is going
to press mere days before any actual announcements
have been made, I can’t really talk about it myself.
In our articles this month there are plenty of tips to
be found, as well as the continuation of Erin’s Sekiro:
Shadows Die Twice Diaries. We also look at some
recent news, betas, and releases to plump out our
monthly quick peeks in the form of So I Tried.
On to previews, we have four of them all of which are
in Early Access on Steam! They may or may not be
coming to other platforms, but have you seen the
Switch’s library of games? They’re more than likely
coming to that at least. Pirates, vampires, crafters,
and overkilling — a bit of all of the food groups.
Finally, our reviews are certainly a mixed bag! You’ll
have seen our cover so I won’t mention that, but we
had Alana going to Kaĳu Wars, Mike being unable to
Google Dolmen, and Georgina experiencing
Summertime Madness. Then we had that whole thing
with Erin reading from the Necronomicon, so of
course they had to grab a boomstick to deal with Evil
Dead: The Game…

doubling down on liquid cooling for both rigs and
ourselves here in GameOn Towers. But don’t let that
stop you from reading what we’ve spent the past 30
days putting together for your reading enjoyment!
The articles in this month’s issue include some
regular features like So I Tried, but we’re also saying
farewell to Alana’s regular Animal Crossing: New
Horizons feature, as the island is finally at three stars.
We also have some tips, opinions, and a complaint
about Sonic The Hedgehog — no, not his second
movie.
We also have an interview with the developers behind
Kombinera, Jacob Lear and Philip Snowbarger, talking
briefly about what it was like to work with Atari.
Modern-day Atari — yes, they’re back again.
On the preview side of things we’ve packed the pages
with Early Access and pre-release reviews for some
great games. There’s also a preview for a game
coming out in a few days time: F1 22!
Finally, our reviews have some gems, but I’d be lying
if I said they were all great games this month! It
happens, not everything we review can be a 10, but
some of them came close! We had Artura doing some
scientific RESEARCH and DESTROY, Kyle became an
Aethernaut, and FluffyAxe looked through the eye of
the Beholder 3. Okay, that one was a little stretched
and I apologise.

Welcome to issue 151 of The GameOn Magazine!
While I have to readily admit that a certain movie
theme composed by John Williams has been echoing
throughout GameOn Towers for days now, I can’t
fault our team’s ability to review other games. We’ve
got a packed issue on that front, and it’s not like we’ve
skimped on the rest of the mag!
While there’s only one anniversary article (which
narrowly missed last month’s deadline, it’s a well
timed one. Angry Birds Space came out 10 years ago,
and mere weeks ago Rovio re-released the original
game rebuilt in the Unity engine. We also have the
usual So I Trieds, Is It Any Good, some tips, and the
start of a new diary series.
While not all of them have a solid quarter of release
announced so far, almost all of the games in our
previews are coming out soon. Whether it’s weeks or
months it’s not always clear, but at least you can keep
an eye out for them. Out now in Steam’s Early Access
we have Hidden Deep, Fire on Fight, Thy Creature,
and Have a Nice Death. Other than those we have
Tinykin, Jack Move, and 10 games all-in-all!
As I mentioned before, the reviews are where most of
these pages have gone, with mostly very wellreviewed
games! See if you can spot the single 4/10
bringing the magazine’s average down. Alana ran up
The Ramp, Mike wrestled with WWE 2K22, and
FluffyAxe potted some Strange Horticulture.
Meanwhile, Gorzagorz caused Babylon's Fall, Jinny
caught the Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and Samiee
drove the Agent Intercept. You know about the
biggest reviews already, because you looked at the

With so many huge games released recently, and
even releasing as this issue goes to press, it’s a
wonder we’ve had time to even write about them! It
was a good thing Dying Light 2 Stay Human released
for last month’s issue…
While we have our usual bunch of opinions, facts, and
tips, we also celebrate a few game anniversaries that
hit recently. Ghost Rider, Street Fighter x Tekken,
Hollow Knight, and The Simpsons: Tapped Out all had
some notable anniversaries, so a handful of our
writers took another look at them, because why not?
Though on the subject of tips, we’ve got a fair few of
those.
With Steam’s NextFest mere weeks ago by the time
you’re reading this, you can see some of the previews
we produced based on those demos. Not all of them
are related to Next Fest, however, as King Arthur:
Knight's Tale, Coromon, and Harvest Days are all out
in scant days time! They might even be out right now,
if you waited to read these words.
Much like last month, our reviews have some perfect
scores, near-perfect scores, and one absolutely awful
score. I’ll let you discover which is which as you read
on, so no spoilers. Meanwhile, Kyle was called a
Wytchwood, Mike became the Maglam Lord, and Neil
was the Shadow Warrior 3. Then Artura went to see
What Lies in the Multiverse, Alana punched the King
of Fighters XV, and you’ve obviously seen the cover so
I don’t need to tell you the last one.

Who knew that the start of 2022 would have been so
jam-packed full of awesome games? It’s been so hard
to plan ahead with all of the delays, after all. But
we’ve been plugging on, getting things done, and
have a load of amazing games to talk about this issue!

date, and back at games that have been and gone.
There are tips and unionisation, a look at Xbox
Backwards Compatibility, and even an explanation all
about gaming Non Fungible Tokens! We tried to
remain neutral, but if you’ve been around Twitter it’s

score, three with a near-perfect score, and a
smattering that cover the range from “bad” to “good”.

conjures some Spellcaster University, and Mike
conducts the Railway Islands. Meanwhile, Ibrahim
removes Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction, Carl
starts to DYSMANTLE, and Samiee blows the
Blackwind. Of course, you can imagine what Dylan did
to Dying Light 2 Stay Human.

range from pretty bad to really good, so there might

to hurry through this so that I can get back to that
Battlefield 2042 beta! Then I have to prepare for
Halloween, I suppose…

Where To Start with Resident Evil. Ibrahim also goes
over what he expects to see from Senua’s Saga:

DLCs! There’s racing, shooting and ninja-style slicing
galore across a mix of indie-to-AAA releases. There’s
